We Are Looking for Thunderbolt Adapters
In the world of video-out ports, Apple is like a playboy who constantly changes mate. For the past 5 years or so, Apple computer’s video port has changed from Mini DVI to Micro DVI to Mini Displayport, and now Thunderbolt, despite HDMI / Mini HDMI being the most popular and ubiquitous port on HDTVs or Monitors. When somebody gets a new Macbook now, how can he/she output his screen to another? He/she might have the coolest (or hottest) laptop in the classroom/office, but too bad it cannot be used to give a presentation because virtually no projector accepts thunderbolt for now, not even Mini Displayport which Apple pushed already 2 years ago. As we have been providing Mini DisplayPort to VGA and HDMI adapters for Mac users, we will be actively searching for Thunderbolt to HDMI and VGA adapters for you guys, so stay in touch. SONY is Hacked, Again
Back in early May Sony’s PlayStation Network (PSN) was hacked, with millions of customers information, including password and credit card information, stolen, and then a couple of weeks later when PSN was back online, it was immediately hacked again because the new PSN simply asked the users to change their passwords, and the hackers have the password-retrieving information from the 1st hacking. Then soon, Sony Ericsson Canada’s website is hacked with customer information stolen. And what do you know: A group called LulzSec today announced that they took about a million usernames and passwords in the US, the Netherlands and Belgium from SonyPictures.com. They actually made it available for download, to me, that’s totally not cool. Not surprisingly, according to these hackers, all these information is not encrypted at all:
Hacking a website to show off that you can and to warn the hacked website of its fragile security is one thing, using the stolen information for someone’s own profit or carelessly making it publicly available is another. I’m sure Sony gets a message about its privacy protection is too weak, but why is Sony becoming almost like a lab test mouse to the hacking communities? Why targeting Sony? Personally, somehow I get a feeling that it has something to do with Sony being extra tough on Geohot who hacked the PS3, which might have ignited the fire of revenge from the hackers around the world. Just my theory, what do you think? Let us know. P.S. If you have ever purchased anything from Sony, now is a good time to call them to delete your profile, if they can. Updates on Canada Post Strike and What It Means to Your Order
Despite Canada Post responded today with another offer, CUPW has initiated the strike as it notified 2 more days ago. However, it may not be as bad as we initially thought it would be: the strike will be rotating. Tonight, Canada Post’s Winnipeg unit will be on strike, with everywhere else being normal. Since we’re in BC, even though Winnipeg, Manitoba, is on strike, all shipments will be processed here normally for now. If a shipment is routed to Winnipeg during its strike, it will get stuck there; however, if it isn’t, it will be delivered just as normally. Given this update, we decided to ship your orders first-thing-in-the-morning tomorrow on Friday. Surely, it is possible that once the rotating strike starts rolling, somewhere in the way, your order might get unlucky and get stuck, but it isn’t as bad as we thought earlier with the entire postal system shutting down nationwide. If there’s more update on this labour relations situation, we will keep you posted. Canada Post on Strike Starting June 2Here’s an update on the current Canada Post strike, which may affect your order’s delivery: As of now, Canada Post workers are going to be on strike after midnight of June 2, Thursday.
Because if your order is shipped now, it will likely remain in Canada Post processing center during the strike, and although unlikely, there could be sabotaging activities within Canada Post facilities, therefore, for the safety of your item(s), your order will be kept with us til Canada Post and the union reach a deal and everything goes back to normal. This also gives you the flexibility to review your order:
For USA & International buyers: there will be no delay and everything is normal, as we will cross the border to the USA and ship your order by USPS, please buy with confidence! We will also keep you updated as soon as Canada Post workers are back to work. Thank you very much for your patience and understanding. Kindest regards, Alex EnjoyGadgets
Our Giveaway Will Use Random.org’s Draw Services
Today’s the last day of our first giveaway draw. To light up the excitement a little bit more, we’ll show how our first draw will be carried out. Initially we were just thinking going with the stone-age way of writing names on paper clips, putting them in a bowl, shaking and picking. But that’s dull. So a little googling landed us on random.org’s draw services. As their domain name suggests, they are good at generating random numbers, and their services can let all the participants who have entered the draw see the results themselves. It’s open, it’s random, it’s fair, it’s web-based, it’s 21st century. We like it! So if you’re interested, take a look at a video showing the behind-the-scene process of a draw, as demonstrated by random.org, which we will also use this time. Visit EnjoyGadgets.com NOW! iOS 4.3 Officially Released
iOS 4.3 is finally officially released, plenty of new features. However, if you’re relying on jailbreaking and/or unlocking, once again, please hold your horses until the official jailbreaking and unlocking tools are released, hopefully soon. Among the new features, my favourite is personal hotspot, which works like a router to allow your and your friends’ phones, iPads/tablets and laptops to go online in the wild, if your iPhone/iPad has a 3G data plan. So why would somebody buy an iPad with 3G, if he / she already has an iPhone with 3G plan? But hey, people are rich. See the What’s New after the break. Redsn0w 0.9.7b1 Released: Untethered Jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1
Yes, it’s finally here. iPhone Dev Team has just released redsn0w 0.9.7 that can jailbreak your iOS 4.2.1 on iPhone 4,iPod touch 4G and iPad. Before, there was only tethered jailbreak tools, which requires you to connect your iOS device to a computer and do the jailbreaking procedures each and every time when you reboot your iOS device, which is not convenient at all. With untethered jailbreaking, you only have to do the jailbreaking once and for all. It’s still a beta, and works only the MacOSX version is available right now. And we have to warn you iPhone users: if you rely on unlocking, please don’t hurry to upgrade to iOS 4.2.1 just yet. Please wait for PwnageTool or ultrasn0w to be released, hopefully soon. I have been using GoodReader to read text novels for a long time, but I do not particularly like iPhone’s system fonts for reading, so I want to add some extra fonts to iPhone’s font library and use it in any app that can utilize iPhone’s system fonts. After hours of digging in Google and various forums, a solution has been found and here’s how you can add your preferred fonts to iPhone, tested on iPhone 4 iOS 4.1. So here we go: Designer’s 3D Glasses – LG Understands Your Embarrassment
