Smartphone Nokia 808 has 41m pixel for camera

Tuesday, February 28th, 2012

Nokia 808
41 million pixels! That beats all other smartphones, click-n-shoot cameras, and DSLR cameras (except for few Hasselblad cameras known to us).

To compare, iPhone 4S has 8m, so is Samsung Galaxy S II; a latest click-n-shoot camera usually has 10-12m, Canon’s flagship DSLR 1DX has 18.1m, Nikon’s flagship D3X has 24.5m, but damn it this hard-as-rock, indestructible Nokia cellphone has 41m!

Check out some of its amazing sample images.

One thing is for sure, if you have this phone, there’s absolutely not a single point to carry a click-n-shoot camera. Perhaps a DSLR still has its way, but why carrying a click-n-shoot camera when your cellphone has way better image quality and the ability to share photos instantly?

Next time when Tim Cook introduces iPhone 5, his voice will go down and skip quickly when mentioning its resolution, and you’ll go “meh”; people will boo when Samsung Galaxy S III is released with an 8m camera. I don’t even know how click-n-shoot camera companies have enough self-respect to release anything if they don’t at least enter into a similar ball-park figure.

The questions now are: is Nokia going too far on this resolution thing? Will customers buy it just because it has superior photographic function? Will there be enough customers to even know or care about this? (Ask your friends what resolutions their cellphones have, many of them probably don’t know or aren’t sure of it).

What do you think? Let us know below.

iPhone 4S, Meh

iPhone 4S Meh

Sure the chip inside is faster, the memory is larger, the battery lasts longer, but nothing exciting, nothing makes you wow.

It’s been 3 months plus a year since iPhone 4, with all the anticipating, Apple delivers only a mediocre update, even Apple knows it can’t be called iPhone 5, so there goes 4S, as in S for “Same”?

The good thing is that, you can sneak around and secretly upgrade to iPhone 4S without your good wife/gf or husband/bf knowing about it and whining for too much money wasted.

Oh well, before you get bored, here’s some iOS 5 Gold Master builds for fun:

[Breaking] Steve Jobs resigned.

Wednesday, August 24th, 2011

Steve Jobs resigned.

We all knew it’s a matter of time, but I never thought it would be this early, not before iPhone 5 is rumored to be released next month.

Steve Jobs has always been seen as the sole reason of Apple’s current success, and his health condition or resignation will no longer guarantee Apple’s long-term advantage over its competitors, and tomorrow’s stock price on AAPL will likely reflect that.

With Apple being one the hottest and most profitable compan and Steve Jobs being a charismatic idol among fans, the only reason for his resignation is his health condition. And I wish all the best to Steve Jobs, after all, money and fame come and go, as long as we have health, one can always come back.

Steve published his letter:

I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.

I hereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee.

As far as my successor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succession plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple.

I believe Apple’s brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role.

I have made some of the best friends of my life at Apple, and I thank you all for the many years of being able to work alongside you.

Steve

We Are Looking for Thunderbolt Adapters

thunderbolt to hdmi adapter

In the world of video-out ports, Apple is like a playboy who constantly changes mate. For the past 5 years or so, Apple computer’s video port has changed from Mini DVI to Micro DVI to Mini Displayport, and now Thunderbolt, despite HDMI / Mini HDMI being the most popular and ubiquitous port on HDTVs or Monitors.

When somebody gets a new Macbook now, how can he/she output his screen to another? He/she might have the coolest (or hottest) laptop in the classroom/office, but too bad it cannot be used to give a presentation because virtually no projector accepts thunderbolt for now, not even Mini Displayport which Apple pushed already 2 years ago.

As we have been providing Mini DisplayPort to VGA and HDMI adapters for Mac users, we will be actively searching for Thunderbolt to HDMI and VGA adapters for you guys, so stay in touch.

Canada Post on Strike Starting June 2

Wednesday, June 1st, 2011

Here’s an update on the current Canada Post strike, which may affect your order’s delivery:

As of now, Canada Post workers are going to be on strike after midnight of June 2, Thursday.

  • For free/regular shipments (usually a shipping fee of $0 – $3.99), your order will likely experience delay at Canada Post processing center.
  • If you pay Express (usually $14.99), we will change the delivery method from Canada Post XpressPost to UPS / Fedex / DHL, and there will be no delay.

Because if your order is shipped now, it will likely remain in Canada Post processing center during the strike,

and although unlikely, there could be sabotaging activities within Canada Post facilities,

therefore, for the safety of your item(s), your order will be kept with us til Canada Post and the union reach a deal and everything goes back to normal.

This also gives you the flexibility to review your order:

  • If you’d like to have your order shipped as soon as Canada Post is back to normal, you don’t have to do anything.
  • If you’re in Great Vancouver Area, you are encouraged to pick up your item at our location, please reply to this email to book an appointment.
  • If time is sensitive to you, you are encouraged to upgrade to express, and we will ship your order by UPS / DHL / Fedex, although it will cost $14.99 more, there will be no delay. please reply to this email for details.
  • If you would like to cancel the order, please also let us know.

For USA & International buyers: there will be no delay and everything is normal, as we will cross the border to the USA and ship your order by USPS, please buy with confidence!
We sincerely wish Canada Post and the union can reach a deal as soon as possible. Click here to follow the update on this strike.

We will also keep you updated as soon as Canada Post workers are back to work.

Thank you very much for your patience and understanding.

Kindest regards,

Alex

Our Giveaway Will Use Random.org’s Draw Services

EnjoyGadgets First Giveaway Draw

Today’s the last day of our first giveaway draw.

To light up the excitement a little bit more, we’ll show how our first draw will be carried out.

Initially we were just thinking going with the stone-age way of writing names on paper clips, putting them in a bowl, shaking and picking. But that’s dull. So a little googling landed us on random.org’s draw services.

As their domain name suggests, they are good at generating random numbers, and their services can let all the participants who have entered the draw see the results themselves.

It’s open, it’s random, it’s fair, it’s web-based, it’s 21st century. We like it!

So if you’re interested, take a look at a video showing the behind-the-scene process of a draw, as demonstrated by random.org, which we will also use this time.

jailbreak ios 4.2.1

Apple released iOS 4.2.1 for iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touch, bringing in some lucrative new features; however, if you rely on jailbreaking and/or unlocking, please resist any temptation to upgrade, as you may lose the ability to jailbreak and/or unlock for ever.

New Features

iOS 4.2.1 does bring in some very useful features as:

  • Multitasking and App Folder for iPads, which has been longed for by many iPad users;
  • Find My iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, previously only available in paid MobileMe services which allows you to remotely disable a lost iPhone and geographically locate it;
  • AirPlay, which streams music, photos, and videos from your iOS device to your AppleTV wirelessly;
  • AirPrint (incomplete), which offers some wireless printing functionality, but it has a lot of requirements, rendering it practically not so much useful for now.
  • Game Center, with social gaming on your iPad.
  • Improved Mail: See messages from all your accounts in a unified inbox, organize messages by threads, and open attachments in third-party apps.
  • Find text on web pages: In Safari, easily find and highlight specific words and phrases on large web pages.
  • Enhanced enterprise support: Businesses can take advantage of stronger security features, new device management capabilities, and improved enterprise integration.
  • Accessibility enhancements: Control VoiceOver using a wireless keyboard. Output in braille to over 30 supported wireless Bluetooth refreshable braille displays in more than 25 languages.
  • 30 new Keyboards and dictionary, including Arabic, Greek, and Hebrew.

PS3 Hacked To Play Backup Games With A USB Modchip?

Thursday, August 19th, 2010

It’s amazing how PS3 has been holding up all these years without being hacked to play backup disks. But now a group claims that they have finally done so with an USB modchip so you can play games stored on an internal or external Harddrive.

Whether this is true or not still needs confirmation. The PSX-Scene team say they have personally verified that it does what it claims to do while many others claim it’s fake. So if you don’t mind being a lab mouse trying the USB, be sure to let us know the results.
